# Custom Items

### Overview

Orange SMP uses a large custom item system across [Skills](/orange-smp-wiki/skills.md), [Areas](/orange-smp-wiki/areas.md), [Dungeons](/orange-smp-wiki/dungeons.md), bosses, shops, and crafting stations.

These items are more than stronger vanilla gear.

Many have custom stats, abilities, skill requirements, set bonuses, and progression uses.

### What custom items include

Custom items show up in nearly every major progression path.

### Where items come from

Custom items come from different parts of the server.

| Source | Common item themes |

| [Areas](/orange-smp-wiki/areas.md) | Region-specific drops, themed gear, and special upgrade items. |
| [Dungeons](/orange-smp-wiki/dungeons.md) | Boss drops, powerful weapons, armor, and rare crafting materials. |
| Shops and NPCs | Utility items, trade gear, boosters, and progression recipes. |

### Core item systems

Some custom items are part of wider systems, not just simple gear upgrades.

| System | What it does |
| -------------------------------------------------------------------- | ------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| [Accessories](/orange-smp-wiki/custom-items/equipment.md) | Add extra stats and passive bonuses without replacing armor or weapons. |
| [Artifacts](/orange-smp-wiki/custom-items/equipment.md) | Give stronger effects, build utility, or unique progression value. |
| [Runes](/orange-smp-wiki/areas/ancient-digsite/runes.md) | Improve elemental damage, elemental defense, or merged elemental effects. |
| [Gemstones](/orange-smp-wiki/custom-items/gems.md) | Upgrade gear through sockets or stat-focused enhancement systems. |
| [Catalysts and offhands](/orange-smp-wiki/custom-items/equipment.md) | Add trigger effects, utility bonuses, or combat reactions. |

### Progression by area

Most major areas have their own item theme.

| Area | Main item focus |
| ------------------------------------------------------------------ | --------------------------------------------------------------- |
| [Farmlands](/orange-smp-wiki/areas/farmlands.md) | Farming gear, mutated crops, pest gear, and mutation equipment. |
| [Luscious Grove](/orange-smp-wiki/areas/luscious-grove.md) | Foraging gear, rare logs, magical cores, and nature items. |
| [Spelunking Caverns](/orange-smp-wiki/areas/spelunking-caverns.md) | Mining gear, ores, gemstones, and shard-based progression. |
| [Ancient Digsite](/orange-smp-wiki/areas/ancient-digsite.md) | Excavation gear, relics, fossils, and archaeology items. |
| [Lagoona Lakes](/orange-smp-wiki/areas/lagoona-lakes.md) | Fishing gear, bait, rods, aquatic drops, and ocean weapons. |
| [Mystic Isles](/orange-smp-wiki/areas/mystic-isles.md) | Advanced fishing gear and rarer late-game aquatic items. |
| [Dungeons](/orange-smp-wiki/dungeons.md) | Boss weapons, dungeon armor, and strong late-game materials. |
| [The Underworld](/orange-smp-wiki/areas/the-underworld.md) | Black-market gear, illegal items, and risky utility items. |

### Rarity and tiers

Item tiers usually show how rare or powerful an item is.

| Tier | Meaning |
| --------------------- | ---------------------------------------- |
| `Common` / `Uncommon` | Early progression or simple utility. |
| `Rare` | Stronger stats or more specialized uses. |
| `Epic` | Mid-to-late progression gear. |
| `Legendary` | Powerful gear from harder content. |
| `Mythical` | End-game or very high-power items. |
| `Exotic` | Rare special items with unique uses. |
| `Blackmarket` | Hidden or illegal shop items. |
| `Seasonal` | Event or limited-time style items. |

### What to keep

Do not throw away rare custom drops too quickly.

Many materials are used later for shops, blacksmiths, upgrades, and area progression.

A good rule is:

1. Keep rare materials.
2. Check NPCs before selling items.
3. Upgrade tools for the skill you use most.
4. Build gear around your current goal.
5. Save end-game materials for later crafts.

### Why this system matters

Custom items connect every part of the server.

As you farm, mine, fish, fight, and explore, you keep unlocking better tools, stronger builds, and new upgrade paths.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://orange-lounge-smp.gitbook.io/orange-smp-wiki/custom-items.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
