# Codex

### Overview

The Codex is your in-game discovery journal.

It unlocks new entries as you explore the server.

You unlock entries by:

* Defeating mobs
* Visiting important areas
* Interacting with NPCs
* Discovering new locations

### What the Codex does

Each Codex entry gives extra information about what you found.

It helps you learn more about mobs, places, and the world around you.

You can also use it to track your progress as you explore new content.

### What you can find inside

The Codex can include entries for:

* Mobs you have discovered
* NPCs you have met
* Important places you have visited
* Locations you have unlocked

Some entries can also be used for travel after you discover them.

### Open the Codex

Use `/codex` at any time to open your Codex.

{% hint style="info" %}
Keep exploring to unlock more entries. The more of the server you discover, the more your Codex fills out.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://orange-lounge-smp.gitbook.io/orange-smp-wiki/codex.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
